How do I carry out multiple updates?

Hi,

My wife has had this X8-H Plus unit for quite a while and we've used it in a very simplistic way.
She used it for XBMC and I used the Youtube app on there.
Now lately I've been having problems with some videos on Youtube in that some of them the picture would lag behind the sound, others the video would freeze while the sound carried on. Looking into it further I'm aware that the XBMC is way behind anyway (as it transitioned to Kodi) and the version of Android that I'm using is also dated....

How do I carry out multiple updates?

Hey Everyone,

I have an X8-H Plus and was trying to update to android 5.1.1 using the instructions in this thread: http://www.minixforum.com/threads/x8-h-plus-lollipop-rc2-firmware-july-2017.16633/ and followed the instructions there for using the burning tool. I have had multiple failure codes for different reasons, typically very early on so I was still able to boot the box in the original firmware. One time it got to 96% and failed on the bootloader install. Since then I have not...

Minix stuck on Boot won't go to recovery

Hi I hope someone can help me.

My minix just stopped working. It was running the original firmware and I haven't rooted the device.
Now the Minix logo just keeps blinking.

I tried these methods;

Factory reset

But I have a Mac and SDCard reader passthrough doesn't work so I created an USB and I also copied the content of the USB to a fat32 formatted SDCard
This goes to stock recovery...

Minix x8 h plus stuck on minix logo.

Hi all i am having a problem with my minix a couple of days ago it froze up so i restarted the box since then it wont boot up its stuck on the minix logo if i try to go for recovery mode it will go to a black screen and stay there wont boot up and wont accept usb its just stuck i tryed hdmi cable trick but nothing i waited 10 minutes as well nothing its just stuck if i unplug it it goes back to the minix logo is there a solution please help is my box bricked ???????

Kodi stops after a few seconds

When I start Kodi, it works for a few seconds and then goes back to the homepage of the minix.
I have no idea what to do now.

I tried to install "fresh start" so I can reset the kodi built. But I don't have the time to do it because it doesn't give me enough time to install it before jumping back again to the homescreen.

I also tried to download the new kodi, but i get a message that minix can't unpack the file.

Does anyone know what to do to get kodi working again?

Sound lost after update 4.4.2

Hello everybody

I updated my minix NEO-X8H-PLUS

andriod version: 4.4.2
Buildnumber KOT49H.20170119
Kernel version: 3.10.33

But after the update i lost my sound
- Wires are connected
- Volume settings are not on mute

i tried:
Going back to factory settings, but that didn't help

everything is stock and i used the app on the minix for update

Flashing/updating X8-H Plus from original firmware

I've never flashed/updated a device like this so unsure about whether I'm doing this correctly.

The firmware on my box is the original 20141114 firmware.

With the .zip update pack do I need to flash all the 001, 002, 003, etc. updates one-by-one in order to update to the latest firmware version or can I skip all and use only the latest one?

Is it better if I flash to the latest firmware using the flashing tool?

Any way to install a Linux distro?

I have a spare X8H Plus and would like to get Linux installed on it, if at all possible. In my use-case, I would install pi-hole, media wiki, and either openHAB or Home-Assistant.


If anyone could point me in the right direction to do this, I'd really appreciate it.

Can I install regular Android (5, 6 or 7) on my Minix Neo X8-H Plus ?

Hi all,

Since I don't see enough support on various apps and Kodi on my Android v4.4 minix, is it possible that I treat the Minix as a regular Andoid based phone and install custom ROM on it ?

I'm aware that I'll be loosing customizations made by Minix company, but it seems they have neglected that product.

Any word of advice here would be very appreciated.

I have a minix x8-h plus that for years I move between the TV in the living room (50 ") and the bedroom (32") as needed.

Recently I noticed that when i move the TV to the bedroom (to the 32" tv). The movies in Kodi are in Zoom in , which cuts off parts of the picture.
I went into the device settings and did the calibration so that I could see the entire yellow stripe of the frame from all directions. I checked that in the TV settings I was not in zoom in and also in Kodi (which I'm not...

Minix X8-H Plus died

I started my Minix X8-H Plus this morning and keep getting blackscreen .

Attempts to restart did not work. Then I tried twice to reflashing the device

with a full system image and a PC - (USB_Burning_Tool_v2.0.6.2 and

X8H_PLUS_FW011_20170119 - the MD5 checksum was checked ) .

I twice get the same error message at 7% :

[0x30405004]UBOOT/PARTITION BOOT/Verify partition/Error result .

Search in the forum did not help .

Does this mean that my device has finally died or the problem has a...

Screensaver / Daydream interrupting playback

Switched box off last night using remote and turned it on today using front button as we do every time.

But today the box has been constantly stopping media playback with the screensaver randomly coming on.

Sometimes the screensaver shows the images fine, other times the screen goes white for a few seconds then drops back to KODI with the media we were playing paused.

The interruptions are random, 6 minutes, 21 minutes etc.

Any suggestions?

VVVVID app issue

Dears,

VVVVID is a free italian streaming service, with load of anime and some movies.

I've always been able to use it on my Neo X8-h plus, despite of the lack of a proper TV interface.

Since latest two app updates, I'm not able to see the content anymore.
I don't know if it's the app, or if I need to reset my minix box. I already tried to clear app data and reinstall it.

The app loads, you can choose what you want to see, but after the commercial, the screen stays black.

Is there anybody...

Help with KODi/Exodus

Hi, I am not an avid user so I am sorry if I sound a little stupid!
I have a Minix Neo X8 H Plus and have been using it for a while now to watch movies etc on KODi using Exodus. Lately I have found lots of the movies or shows either won't open at all or if they do they continually buffer. They also often require an authorisation from an online site. I have also been unable to use the search mode in Exodus. Is there anyone that can possibly help me please?

Periodic Background Chime

There is a background chime that periodically goes off. I am assuming it is a update chime for apps. I have went through settings to turn it off but cannot locate it. Where do I turn this chime off? Thanks for your help and time!! James

My X8H Plus of two years suddenly packed up. While watching Youtube recently, it said shutting down and closed. After that, numerous attempts to boot failed and the machine was stuck on the MINIX logo. I tried reflashing the latest software using the USB stick method by entering recovery mode. But, this failed with the message corrupt cache or some thing similar. Next, I tried a clean install after a factory reset using the USB burning tool method. Multiple laptops, USB cables, USB...

No Sound

Hey I just got a x8-h plus and have plugged it into the hdmi port in my TV (loewe xelos a32). The picture is fine but I am getting no sound. Have updated software as much as possible. Current build number is KOT49H.20160829.

Plugged a DVD into the hdmi port on the TV and it worked fine.

Have been adjusting settings for hours trying to get it to work but no luck.

Hope someone has some ideas on the problem

Potential brick X8-H Plus

Trying to flash using usb burning tool - errors at roughly 5%
SD card / .zip file method will not work
Burn Card Maker method stops and will not continue.
Opened TRWP on SD card - shows 0MB for /data, /system, etc. Changing file system to any type fails.
Seems like a partition issue. Does anyone have any tips or is it bricked?

external storage drive assignment

Hi all,

I just upgraded my minix neox8hplus to the new lolipop system and lost some functionality that existed on the old OS.

I have 4 hard drives attached to a USB hub that connects to the minix box. I also have mizuu tv/movie app that accesses the external storage through the USB hub. On the old OS the drive assignment was persistent in that the drives were consistently assigned a path in android.

The new system changes the drive assignment based on the access sequence during drive bootup....

Wake-On-LAN (Android to Android)

Is it possible to have 1 Android box wake another? I use my X8-H Plus as a NAS/Fileserver.
I want to know if I can wake it when either I've put it to sleep or it has auto-slept using Wake-On-LAN from another android.
I haven't gotten it to work and didn't know if anyone knows if this is possible, there for I'm doing it wrong, or if it just can't be done.
